Lee’s Summit Medical Center—part of HCA Midwest Health System, Kansas City’s largest healthcare network—has named Stacey Estes, RN, MSN, as orthopedic clinical nurse specialist. Estes is the liaison for orthopedic services and coordinator of all aspects of care for orthopedic patients at the acute care hospital.
Prior to joining Lee’s Summit Medical Center, Estes served at Research Medical Center, also part of HCA Midwest, in various roles for 18 years. She was an orthopedic floor nurse, orthopedic clinician, coordinator of orthopedic care and orthopedic clinical nurse specialist and earned the respect of patients and colleagues. Estes earned her MSN in 2001 from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and holds certifications as an orthopedic nurse and as a clinical nurse specialist (CSN) in adult health. Estes is a member of the National Orthopaedic Nursing Association (NAON) and serves as treasurer for the Kansas City NAON chapter.
“Stacey’s dedication to the health care industry is proven through her commitment to patient care and relationships with co-workers and peers,” says Jackie DeSouza, chief executive officer of Lee’s Summit Medical Center. “Her astute level of professionalism will enhance the services Lee’s Summit Medical Center offers to patients as a community healthcare leader.”
Lee’s Summit Medical Center was recognized in the August 2011 issue of US News & World Report for its success in treating heart disease and stroke.
Additionally, Lee’s Summit Medical Center was recognized in 2011 as one of the nation’s Top Performer Hospitals in Key Quality Measures by The Joint Commission in every measure for which the hospital provides care—heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care.
“I am pleased to have joined Lee’s Summit Medical Center and to help the hospital continue to deliver its excellent orthopedic services to Lee’s Summit and the surrounding area,” says Estes. “The hospital is an exemplary organization that is expanding to better meet the needs of patients and families with progressive and innovative programs. It’s exciting to be a part of that growth.”
