Wound care center in Kansas City

We expect our bodies to heal quickly and routinely, but healing is a complicated process. In fact, more than six million Americans experience chronic wounds—wounds that are slow to heal or won’t heal at all. At HCA Midwest Health, our wound care centers specialize in the comprehensive treatment of wounds, from acute care to rehabilitation.

Chronic and acute wound care

Our centers provide acute and reconstructive wound and burn care in a compassionate, nurturing, personalized and team-centered environment. We strive to maximize patient comfort and deliver the fastest, most effective recoveries possible.

We provide inpatient services for adult and geriatric patients with chronic, non-healing wounds. Our team includes certified wound care nurses who assess and assist all of our patients.

Our advanced wound care centers

If a wound has not healed in about three or four weeks with standard medical care and/or the wound is complicated by associated diabetes, infection or poor circulation, it’s time to seek special treatment at our advanced wound care centers. Our outpatient clinics specialize in treating patients with chronic, slow-healing or non-healing wounds. We have a dedicated burn surgical suite and a helipad for rapid transport.

Beginning with a thorough evaluation of your condition, we will work with your primary care physician and individualize your treatment plan to address any conditions that might hinder your healing, such as diabetes, infections or poor circulation. Our specialists focus on the latest treatments and technologies to get you on the road to recovery.

Wounds, burns and related conditions we treat

Our specialists diagnose and treat a variety of conditions related to wounds and burns, including:

  • Post-operative complications
  • Pressure wounds, ulcers and bed sores
  • Radiation wounds
  • Traumatic injuries
  • Underlying bone infections caused by chronic, open wounds
  • Vascular ulcers
  • Wound issues related to diabetes, such as diabetic ulcers

Wound treatment options

We take a comprehensive approach to healing burns and wounds that may have been resistant to other treatments. Our patients are holistically treated by a team of board-certified physicians trained in all aspects of advanced, chronic wound care. We offer the latest treatment options and work alongside primary care physicians to manage any underlying medical conditions.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy

During hyperbaric oxygen therapy, patients receive a high concentration of oxygen under pressure, which attaches red blood cells to the wound site. Studies have shown that this treatment process promotes enhanced healing in patients with serious wounds or infections.

Wound healing mist

An advanced, unique and painless treatment for chronic wound care, this procedure uses low-frequency ultrasound energy delivered through a fluid saline mist to promote the healing of chronic wounds. This innovative treatment is especially helpful in patients who can't tolerate regular wound debridement because of pain.
