Lee’s Summit Medical Center—part of HCA Midwest Health System, Kansas City’s largest healthcare network and private-sector employer—announces the expansion of its women’s care at Harrisonville Specialists on the campus of Cass Regional Medical Center, also part of HCA Midwest. Megan L. Sneed, MD, board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology, and Leslie Porch, RN, CNM, certified nurse midwife, are seeing patients in their Harrisonville office for obstetric and gynecology care.

“We are pleased to offer an excellent physician and midwife from Lee’s Summit Medical Center for much-needed women’s care for Cass County residents,” says Chris Lang, chief executive officer, Cass Regional Medical Center. “Dr. Sneed grew up in southern Cass County and already has a following of patients from the region. We’re glad patients may remain with a provider they already know and trust.”

In addition to delivering babies, Dr. Sneed’s special medical training includes minimally invasive gynecologic surgery and pelvic floor reconstruction and urogynecology. These are surgical services she offers at Cass Regional Medical Center and Lee’s Summit Medical Center. She received her medical degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine and completed her residency at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Ill. Dr. Sneed is a junior fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the American Medical Association (AMA). She is the recipient of the Humanism in Medicine award and the Lutheran General Excellence in Research award.

Porch is a certified nurse midwife with extensive experience delivering babies in hospitals and caring for women of all ages in the physician office setting. She works collaboratively with OB/GYNs to provide the highest level of care for women throughout their pregnancies and beyond and has a special interest in providing education and other support for women to assist them in maintaining their overall health. Porch has helped numerous women deliver vaginally (VBAC) who have previously had a C-section, including many women who have believed they are not candidates for a vaginal delivery. In collaboration with physicians, Porch takes great pride in helping each woman decide the safest and healthiest way to plan for a healthy delivery. She is a member of the American College of Nurse Midwives and of Sigma Theta Tau, the nursing honor society. Porch graduated with honors from the University of Kansas School of Nursing and earned her master of nurse midwifery from the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing.
